WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?

“But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 16:15)
Some people probably thought that Jesus neglected His family when He started His ministry, but they didn’t understand that His true family was much bigger than just His blood relatives.
(Matthew 12:46-50)
I’m pretty sure that there were many that considered Jesus as unstable because He didn’t marry, didn’t stick to carpentry, moved from place to place, and only did ministry for three years, but what people didn’t understand was that He came on a mission to fulfill His Father’s will.
(Mark 6:1-3; Luke 9:58; John 6:38)
Some people probably thought that Jesus was a troublemaker with a hot head when He turned over the tables at the temple, but they didn’t understand His passion for the sacredness of a place of worship.
(John 2:13-18)
Jesus’s disciples undoubtedly thought that He had abandoned them when He was asleep on the boat while they were in the middle of a storm, but they didn’t understand that they were about to witness His amazing authority over nature and weather.
(Mark 4:38-40)
Jesus may have been considered rude and ill-mannered because He boldly spoke up and stood up to the religious leaders, but anyone who may have thought this didn’t understand that He didn’t come just to get along but to save those that were lost.
(Matthew 23:1-9; Luke 19:10)
To some, Jesus may have been a rule breaker when He healed on the Sabbath, but they didn’t understand that His power wasn’t limited to just certain days of the week.
(Mark 3:1-6)
There could have been some who thought that Jesus was a coward when He would escape from the crowds and religious leaders after making them mad, but they didn’t understand that it wasn’t quite time for Him to die.
(John 10:24-39)
There’s no telling how many people thought that Jesus was totally disrespectful and without an excuse when He deliberately delayed His visit to see Lazarus, His good friend, when he was sick and eventually died, but little did they understand that Jesus was about to perform one of His greatest miracles by raising Lazarus from the dead.
(John 11:1-44)
Lastly, when Jesus allowed Himself to be captured, didn’t resist being tormented, endured being nailed to the cross, and died and was buried in a tomb, there could have been countless people that thought that He was a fraud because He told Him that He was a king but didn’t even try to save Himself. But little did they understand that this was just a set up for His glorious resurrection—the most significant expression of sacrificial love ever to be displayed on earth!!!
(Luke 23:34-37; John 3:16)
Still today, there are so many that don’t know who Jesus really is, and a person’s thoughts about Him will depend on the side of the fence that they are on. But the question still remains for us today just as Jesus asked Peter, “Who do you say I am?”
HAPPY RESURRECTION SUNDAY!!!!
