THE UNLIKELY GIFT

Luke 2:12: This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.

THE REJECTED GIFT

It's that time of year again. Decorations are all over the place, stores are full of anxious shoppers and online carts are full of holiday gifts, and there's no threshold for the amount of desserts that one can hold. But let's keep it real...for most people, it's all about the presents. The anticipation of getting the right one for each person and seeing their joyous expressions once they open them becomes the highlight. But to get a response that translates into disappointment would deflate any gift giver's happiness.

When Jesus was born, He was no doubt a gift to all the world and to all people. He came with the triumphal declaration from the angels on high, and wise men came at a later time to bring Him gifts fit for the king that He was. Yet, so many people rejected His presence even into adulthood. They were expecting a king that would overthrow the rulership of that time. I don't believe that they were expecting a precious baby but instead someone that would immediately rescue them from their hardships in a way that they could comprehend. Not a child born in a lowly manner.

When He was born, His wrapping, strips of cloth, wasn't glamorous with a cute baby print, and his baby bed was that of a food trough for the nearby animals--not a high-end, custom made royal crib. Yet, He came. Even though the gift of His entrance into this world was overlooked and tossed aside like an unwanted gift, He still came and carried out His mission that still lives on today. Before you toss aside a gift that seems like a flop, take time to really consider its value and the thoughtfulness of the giver that cared enough to give it to you. There could be more to the gift than meets the eye.

MAKE ROOM

In all of the hustle and bustle that seems to be set on automatic during the holidays, let's not forget to make room--room for our family and friends, room for rest, and most importantly, room for spending time in the presence of the Lord. He is the real reason why we celebrate Christmas. This can seem so taxing for someone who is already overloaded with all the things to do, but I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

My blog is actually 5 years old this month!!!! And before you think I've forgotten, I know it's been quite some time since I've posted on here. I miss you, my Lemonaders. I've taken to full heart my desire to live life more fully since my first blog this year, so I have been BUSY!!! 2023 has had its ups and downs like all years, but it has been a very fun and enjoyable year for me overall! Matter-of-fact, I worked on this blog while traveling.

But hear me on this...I have to make room in my life for more things. I plan to add more margin in 2024 so that I can implement more rest while still enjoying as many opportunities as I can. And as putting Christ first is a continous battle for me, y'all pray for me, I want to keep that at the forefront on my life at all times.

To be honest my dear Lemonaders, I'm not sure about the future of this blog. It's been a wonderful experience to encourage others, and y'all have been so encouraging to me. Who knows, maybe I'll keep going or transition to another platform? Only God knows, and I will keep you posted. Either way, THANK YOU for the support, and keep all things Lemonade in your prayers.

In the meantime, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! And let's not forget to make room....

This is not a typical Christmas song, but it still speaks to the message of this blog:
