It may be made of stone, but Moses is clearly the first to use a tablet ;-)

"Thou shall not kill." This is an all too familiar command that many people know to be part of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). But what is amazing to me is the man that God chose to present the commandments to His people, the Israelites. It was Moses. Just think about it. Moses himself was a murderer. He had killed someone and fled from Egypt (Exodus 2:11-15). He hid for many years--40 years to be exact--before returning to Egypt after his one-of-a-kind encounter with God. Yet, God still used him in a mighty way. God did not choose Moses to present this particular commandment and the other 9 in order to throw this in his face as a reminder of what he did. And the Bible doesn't even mention that the Israelites brought up the fact that he had killed someone, thereby making him unworthy of giving them these instructions. The bottom line is that no matter what Moses had done, including being a murderer, he was created and appointed by God before the beginning of time to carry out the plan of being a leader for God's chosen people. When you think that you're not good enough to do or be something that God has ordained for you to do based on your past (or even your current state or future outlook), remember that God has already put that in the sea of forgetfulness the moment that you ask for His forgiveness.
