LET THERE BE LIGHT

"He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him." --Daniel 2:22

I just came back from a much needed vacay, and I had a chance to visit WonderWorks Family Attractions in Tennessee. This is an indoor science center that features interactive and hands-on exhibits that are great for people of all ages. Some of the exhibits included an earthquake simulation corner, a mini movie where the seats move to mimic the action on a big screen, and a glove that allows you to touch electricity without feeling the slightest sock! Side note: I had a blast, and I would highly recommend that you visit WonderWorks if you ever get a chance!
There was also a small section of artwork that highlighted some of Dr. Seuss's pieces and a variety of optional illusions. A few of the art that was on display showcased jumbled wire. Now, I know that art is considered subjective--meaning, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But, I was not about to agree that this wad of wire was anywhere close to being display-worthy at any public institution and labeled as art. Except for maybe in a museum of junk. Sorry. I just had to say it like I felt.

For those of you who are like me, I just looked at these supposed 'art' pieces without reading to find out what they were really about and why they were created. I judged these wirey configurations by their appearances alone, and I passed them off as a waste of material and space on the wall. But once I took a hot, quick second to pay attention, I began to realize that there was a lot more to these balls of confusion. There were simple instructions nearby that indicated that I needed to press a button that would shed light on the wirey objects so that I could see the real intention that the artist had in mind. And it was the light that made all the difference.

Voila! Turning on the light allowed the observer to see the real purpose of this creative chaos. Light was necessary as it helped to reveal a clear picture that was otherwise hidden, or more like invisible, without it. Of course, my mind started making spiritual parallels that I could blog about....mostly because I am wired to think like that (no pun intended ). And, I started thinking about how crazy our lives can be sometimes, but it is God's marvelous light that can give us a different perspective on what is really going on behind the scenes.
God has put us on display, so to speak, because we are His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). Believe you me, you would not be alone if you feel more like the mangled, unformed, seemingly useless wired items than something that an artist should be proud of. The last thing that someon who feels this way wants is to be put anywhere so that all can see them. This is especially true when that person feels like they are a mistake, without purpose, and passed off as unimportant. But when God shines His light on that same individual, oh how the whole story changes!
If your life is less than glamorous right now, do not despair. What you assume as complete disorder is often a clear representation of something else to the Father. The Lord may not make any adjustments to you or your situation, but it is His light that can bring clarity to it all the chaos. You and anyone that stops to notice will be able to see the actual reason behind the mumbo-jumbo. God is an artist in the truest form, and He knows exactly what He is doing. No matter how much disorder may be going on in your life, there is always another beautiful thing that is being created by the Creator of all good things...as long as He is the one guiding the process. Let Him do His work, and let Him shine some light on your situation so that you can appreciate what He illuminates.
"Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise..."
