"Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength." Isaiah 40:31
Hey, My Lemonaders! If you're like me, you are ready to just throw in the towel and let life pass you by. Or, if you could you would take 'Rona to the back and shoot it. But since I can't find this towel nor am I one to promote violence, I choose to trust in the Lord instead. It can be very difficult to believe that the promises that God has shown me will come to pass in the middle of this mayhem, but I do not want to give up. Here's what I shared with a friend earlier this year (some information rearranged, added or deleted):
Even if God were to allow us to get a glimpse of what He has promised us, that does not mean that we will accept it. A good reminder is when the 12 Israelites were sent as spies to the Promised Land. They were in there for about 30 days, and they saw all the good things that the land had to offer. But 10 of the spies allowed the giants in the land to turn them away from believing what God had not only promised them but had practically given them.
The moment that they had been waiting for since God delivered them from slavery was prolonged to 40 years in a wilderness because of their CHOICE to not believe in what God had promised them. They were ungrateful and impatient. It's ironic how our impatience leads us to more waiting.
Sometimes the biggest giants that we face are our own stubbornness and our own lack of faith---not our enemies!
If you feel like you are in the wilderness, God has reminders of people who can attest to His goodness and faithfulness:
Abraham showed us that all that wander are not lost when he took the step, not words, of faith toward a land that God would show him.
Job proved that worship and praise and faithfulness to God can still be present even when everything else is gone.
The story of Joseph has reminded us that God chooses our path to our destiny, even if that means getting there by being a slave and prisoner. Only God can do this!!
Moses showed us that God can use us at any age. He was 80 years old when God called him to become the rescue-leader for the Israelites.
And finally, God can send a famine or another natural disaster to come get us. Ruth was rescued and brought into her destiny by way of a famine in another land. She was the only one from her home that was brought over to this new land, but she was so valuable to God that it was worth it.
These people were not perfect like we are not perfect, but their stories live on because of who they were to God. It's so tough to see it now, but God has not abandoned or forgotten us. When the time is just right, and not a minute before or after, God will bring us to where we need to be--spiritually, economically, relationship wise, career wise, etc. Keep going! We will make it by the grace of God and the Lord's goodness!!
