Just Like Jesus

(tribute to mothers)

Just like Jesus, mothers know how to take a little bit of food and multiple it…especially when they take that one rotisserie chicken and turn it into chicken salad, chicken spaghetti, chicken noodle soup, and don’t forget about a casserole.
Just like Jesus, mothers can help the blinded eyes see…especially when they quickly find that sock, house keys, and the remote control that everyone else is looking for but can’t seem to see until mom points right to them.
And the power to make the deaf hear is part of a mother’s abilities...especially when children can’t hear mom when she says it’s time to do the chores, but the same children can astonishingly hear the rattling of a snack bag from anywhere when mom wants to eat something alone.
You know that mothers can be so much like Jesus when they instantly heal the sick…especially when a seemingly sick child is automatically well when mom pulls a freshly baked cake out of the oven, or she allows the siblings to go outside to have some fun.
And of course, we remember when Jesus was awoken by His disciples while He was sleeping on a boat. Yes, mothers can relate to this too…especially at bedtime when a child has a nightmare, is afraid of a storm, or just doesn’t want to go to sleep.
Also, let’s not forget that like Jesus, mothers can speak a word with so much authority that it can change a whole situation immediately…especially when they say, “Don’t make me come over there!”; “I can give you something to cry about!”; or, the famous one-word answer, “No!”
Lastly, do you how mothers are even more like Jesus? Mothers are known for loving unconditionally and sacrificially, even past the point of hurt and when it seems like no one cares. Happy Mother’s Day to each mother, and may you continue to strive to be more like Jesus.
