“…One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see.” –John 9:25

–John 9:25

Some years ago, I had to face an inevitable predicament. I had to get glasses. Not sunglasses or reading glasses, but the ones that made me accept the fact that I was truly nearsighted. And did I tell you that I was in the tenth grade when this took place? My social status slipped down a slippery slope like nobody’s business—as if I had that big of a social life to begin with. LOL! But thankfully, I did not have so severe of an eyesight problem that only bifocals could fix. But glasses were still necessary. Little did I know that a change in my range of vision was exactly what I needed.

Now, I had no idea how to pick a fancy pair of frames. So, the ‘nerd alert’ sounded as I picked a round pair of brown spectacles. But when my glasses were ready for pick up and I put them on for the first time, everything around me changed. I was able to see the things around me as I had never seen them before. I could see road and business signs clearly from a far distance. The headlights of cars no longer appeared blurry. And I could see the intricate details of each leaf on the trees in my yard at home. In other words, I had no idea that the things around were supposed to look the way they did until I put on something that gave me a whole new perspective.

Like my experience in the natural, the same is true in the spiritual. Even before we receive Christ in our lives, we can still see things around us. But when we accept Christ in our lives, we put on our ‘spiritual glasses’ and we see more clearly. Our lives are no longer wrapped up in the mundane; it becomes apparent that there is a divine purpose in everything. Nature and other wonders are no longer mere existences; it is evident that they point to a great Creator. And the Word of God becomes more than just a fairy tale or a book about a great prophet; it becomes the Living Word that directs lost souls to a mighty Savior and loving Father.

It would be a waste to go about your life blinded or with blurry vision when the opportunity for clearer vision is available. Get your vision checked and keep regular checkups with the Lord to ensure that you are seeing well in the spiritual realm (2 Corinthians 13:5). While we are on this earth, we will never be able to clearly recognize all that God has established. But with just the right thickness of the lens, you will be able to see the world around you in a whole new way!

For those of you who are really dependent on your glasses like me, you will be able to relate to how blurry vision can mess up everything! Please enjoy the video, and have a lovely day :-)
