This is a picture of me and my sister when we were little. Aren't we just too cute :-D Today is National Sisters Day, and I want to take a moment to thank God for my sister. The dynamics of sisterhood can change throughout the course of time, but one thing remains the same. I get the best of both worlds since I have a great sister and a good friend all in one. I also want to give a shout out to my sisters from another mister. Proverbs 17:17 says, "A friend loves at all times." I thank God that I have true friends that are also my soul sisters.
Sisterhood can be a journey on a rocky road, and unfortunately there are ladies that do not have such a good relationship with their sister(s) at all. For sisters that do not get along, Proverbs 31:25 could easily read like this: "She is clothed in strength and dignity [because she took them out of my closet and didn't return them], and she laughs without fear of the future [because she has no idea the I know she spilled nail polish all over my favorite sweater]." Hopefully your situation is not like this, and there is still hope if it is. There are many things that can put a strain on a relationship, including comparison between sisters. For those that like to read a good study book like me, check out Rachel & Leah by Nicki Koziarz. It discusses how these two sisters in the bible struggled with comparison, and how comparison can create a world of chaos. There is also a version of this study book for teen girls.
You can purchase either or both study books on Amazon.
You can click on the books for more information.
And for those that don't know what it can be like to have a sister....
