FATHER'S DAY

It is Father's Day. This is a tough day for me because my father has passed away. But thankfully, I have many good memories to carry me through this day. There was also a lot of good advice that my father shared with me over the years. Some of the advice that he shared included, "Sometimes you have to hear and not hear and see and not see." This means that you cannot waste your life addressing, entertaining, or being annoyed by everything that you hear and see. Another bit of advice was, "You can own the most expensive bed and still not get any sleep." And, "If you have a bill that is due, then the money that you have that could go toward that bill is not your money to spend however you want." I did not always understand what my father meant, nor did I always want to hear what he had to say. But it is funny how many of the things that he said seems to make more and more sense as time goes on. I am beyond thankful for the father that God blessed me with, and I miss him so. But I am grateful that he left a legacy that I pray will continue on for the years and decades to come. For today, please share something special about your father, whether he is living or has passed way or is a spiritual, adoptive, or stepfather. Or, it can even be about our Heavenly Father above. And if you father is still living, spend some time with him or call him up. It may not seem like a big deal now, but good memories are created by good moments. I thank God for good fathers!

My father is also deceased and I share many of your sentiments. Sixteens years after his passing, I still feel his presence as the many words of advice still ring in me head. His words are so vivid and relevant that in many ways, I feel he is still with me.
